Duties: The Town of Hingham is seeking an administrative secretary to perform administrative, secretarial, accounting, and customer service functions for the Department of Public Works. Work includes processing payroll and accounts payable, maintaining records, compiling information and preparing documents and reports and issuing permits, providing customer service, issuing permits, and performing a variety of secretarial and administrative functions for the department.
Requirements: A candidate for this position should have an Associates Degree in business sciences and three (3) to five (5) years of experience in accounting, payroll, record keeping, and/or computers or equivalent education and experience. The successful candidate must have good organizational and interpersonal skills and be able to deal effectively in person or on the phone with people at all levels of town government as well as the general public.

Duties: The Town of Hingham is seeking a Superintendent of Public Works. Position is responsible for the management and administration of the Department with an operational budget of $4,098,000. This is an exciting opportunity in that this position will oversee the consolidation of the Public Works Department into a newly built facility, as well as a complete reorganization of the department. The successful candidate will work under the administrative direction of the Town Administrator.
Work includes: Ensuring for the efficient and effective use of equipment and personnel; developing and administering budgets; ensuring best practices; maintaining policies and procedures; ensuring for the safety of employees and the public; performing procurement and contracting functions; responding to personnel management and collective bargaining issues and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations pertaining to department and division operations. Divisions include the Highway, Tree and Parks, Maintenance and Transfer Station Divisions. The Superintendent serves as the Town Tree Warden.
Requirements: A candidate for this position should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Works or related field, a Master’s degree is preferred and eight to ten years of progressively responsible municipal public works experience, with at least four years at the supervisory level.
