Town of Hingham Recognized for Excellence in Financial Reporting
For the 26th consecutive year (1996-2021), the Government Finance Officers Association of the U.S. and Canada (GFOA) has awarded The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the Town of Hingham for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR.)
The certificate has been presented to Tom Mayo, Town Administrator/Finance Director and Susan M. Nickerson, Town Accountant. In its announcement, the GFOA states that "the Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management."
Out of the 351 municipalities in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, only 20 municipalities (approximately 1 in 18 of eligible communities) received this distinguished award for fiscal 2021.
