June 22, 2022 COVID-19 Update

Last Thursday, the federal Centers for Disease Control (CDC) determined that Plymouth County’s COVID 19 community presence is now “Low” – down from “Medium” as reported to you on June 7. This decision to downgrade our community presence level is consistent with other data we’ve seen for Hingham, suggesting decline in cases over the last few weeks.

At Low level of community presence, the CDC’s recommendations include:

· Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines

· Get tested if you have symptoms

Today the Town, through our Health Department received 9,000 COVID-19 rapid antigen tests from the state Department of Public Health (DPH). Our health team will make the tests available to residents and to our schools.

Finally, children aged six months to four years who live in Massachusetts are now able to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Both the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines are available. Parents and caregivers should consult with their primary care providers to learn more about the options, or visit the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s COVID-19 vaccinations for children ages 6 months to 4 years old https://www.mass.gov/info-details/covid-19-vaccinations-for-children-ages-6-months-to-4-years-old page.

Going forward, we will provide updates based on changes in the CDC’s COVID community presence level or other compelling data.
