Hingham Emergency Management Director Steve Murphy is encouraging all Hingham residents to enroll in Smart911, a free emergency notification service provided by the Plymouth County Sheriff's Department.
Smart911 allows emergency officials to quickly notify residents during emergencies, severe weather events, public safety incidents, evacuations, and other critical situations. The system can send alerts to home phones, cell phones, text messages, and email addresses based on the information residents provide during enrollment.
"Smart911 is an important tool that helps us communicate with residents during emergencies," said Emergency Management Director Steve Murphy. "However, residents must register to ensure we have the most accurate contact information available. Taking a few minutes to enroll today can help ensure you receive critical information when it matters most."
Residents are encouraged to create a free Smart911 profile and provide contact information for all household members. Additional information, including special medical needs, mobility limitations, and emergency contacts, may also be included to assist first responders during emergencies.
Enrollment is free and only takes a few minutes.
