A fall household hazardous waste collection day will be available for Hingham residents on September 26, 2020. You will have to pre-register with South Shore Recycling Cooperative, and select a time which will then disclose the location. You will need to provide proof of residency when you arrive.
If you cannot make it to Hingham's date other dates are available (see flyer for more information). To attend another town's collection date you will have to pre-register and obtain an authorization form from the DPW via email - DPWAdmin@Hingham-MA.Gov. Along with your email provide name, address, and screen shot or PDF of a utility bill that has your name and address on it.
Annual collection of household hazardous materials usually takes place on a Saturday morning in the Spring. Collection takes place at Plymouth River School. Look for signs, check the town website, the South Shore Recycling Cooperative website (see link below), Hingham Journal for announcement of date, or call the Department of Public Works at 781-741-1430. Accepted wastes include oil based paints, insecticides/pesticides, and household chemicals. See South Shore Recycling Cooperative website for materials accepted.
Hingham is a member of the South Shore Recycling Cooperative. Verified residents may attend most of the other 10-12 South Shore Recycling Cooperative household hazardous waste collections/year at no charge with an authorization form from the Hingham Department of Public Works.
