50 Flags Campaign for 2023
Hingham's 50 Flags Campaign is on again this year for the 12th consecutive year. Our inventory is 20,000 flags, and we'd love to see them all flying in Hingham for the 2 weeks around the 4th!
The 50 Flags Campaign is our top fundraising source that helps pay for the annual cost of $55,000 to organize and present Hingham’s 4th of July Parade – including the red, white, and blue lines along the parade route! All of the funds come from fundraisers, sponsorships, and donations; NO TAX DOLLARS ARE ALLOCATED TO THE COSTS OF THE PARADE. The flag installations will be for two weeks, starting the weekend of June 24 & 25 and removals will be made the weekend of July 8 & 9.
Flag reservations open on May 22nd and close on June 20th. The minimum rental donation is $100 for 50 flags or $65 for 25 flags. Since the Campaign is very labor intensive, we rely on volunteers from the Hingham High School sports teams: football, soccer, field hockey, track, crew, baseball, tennis, hockey and lacrosse. Also, South Shore SNAP, Hingham Youth Football, and town citizens help install and remove the flags.
80% of the gross proceeds from your generous flag rental donations will go towards growing our flag inventory, while funding the 2023 July 4th Parade. The balance will go to the volunteer youth groups that complete the installations and removals of the flags: $5,600 in 2022.
