2021 Parade Is On

Road Race

One of the region's oldest footraces, this premier event starts our Independence Day celebration, and is one of the town's richest traditions hosted by the Hingham Recreation Department. Unique course: 4.47 miles, point to point. Fast, runner friendly, downhill-dipped, few gradual uphill climbs, down historic Main Street, ending under huge flag with enthusiastic crowd.

Parade

The 2021 4th of July Parade theme is “Heroes Among Us,” a salute to those who have worked, and continue to work, tireless hours battling the life-changing coronavirus pandemic, and whose service is vital to maintaining and restoring the wellbeing of our community and country. Many of our traditions, festivities, and fundraising events are well under way – Our 50 Flags Campaign ; font-style: inherit; font-size: 14.4px; font-family: inherit; vertical-align: baseline; outline: 0px;"> sign-up has ended however Parade Buttons are available at various locations in town.

How to Participate:

Grand Marshal - If you are a front line worker and would like to walk in this year’s parade and be recognized as one of the Heroes Among Us, please complete and return the Hero Registration Form by the June 30th deadline. (more details below)

Sponsor - The Town of Hingham does not fund the 4th of July Parade. The Parade is funded solely through the generous support of corporate sponsors, individual donors, fundraising activities, and entry registration fees. All donations go directly to the Parade. Sponsor or Donate Now!

Participant - Complete the Community and Civic Float Application or sign up to include your personal vehicle.  See all Applications to Participate

Spectator - The Parade will start at 10:00 AM near the Hingham High School at the Middle Street/Pleasant Street intersection and will head North across Route 228 and joining Main Street in Hingham Center, and following Main Street to Hingham Square. Parade will turn right onto North St. and finish at Station St. at approximately 11:15 AM.  Parade Buttons are available for purchase around town now!

Hero's Among Us!

The Hingham Fourth of July Parade Committee wants to recognize and honor the many frontline workers who have worked, and continue to work, tireless hours battling the life-changing coronavirus pandemic.  This includes doctors, nurses, and hospital staff, grocery store workers, restaurant staff, teachers, nursing home staff, therapists, utility workers, policemen, firemen, EMTs, military personnel, scientists and researchers, janitors, sanitation workers, bus drivers, truck drivers, pilots, mailmen, parcel delivery drivers, government officials, and clergy members - to name only a few. You contribute in so many ways to the wellbeing of our community and Nation and have demonstrated incredible commitment and dedication throughout the pandemic.

The Hingham Fourth of July Parade Committee is would like to formally invite you and any front line workers in your organization to participate in the parade as our grand marshals on Sunday, July 4th, at 10AM, in Hingham.  The 2021 grand marshal banner will be carried by recently-retired longtime Hingham employees Town Clerk Eileen McCracken and Hingham Municipal Light Plant General Manager Paul Heanue.  Front-line workers are invited to walk the parade route behind the banner, where spectators will show their appreciation of your service.  

If you or any of your colleagues are interested in walking the parade route, please complete the Hero Registration Form .You must register by June 30th.  All interested Heroes must register to walk in the parade.
