[ARCHIVED] Hingham Mask Advisory, Testing and Booster Clinics

Hingham Health Department Announces Health Advisory on Use of Facial Coverings in Town

HINGHAM -- The Hingham Board of Health has issued a Health Advisory regarding the strongly recommended use of facial coverings by all patrons, visitors and employees within any indoor space open to the public in Hingham.

The Health Advisory, which was approved Friday, is directed to all visitors and employees within any indoor space in all public places, public housing, assisted living facilities, membership associations and workplaces in Hingham.

The Town of Hingham and the region is currently experiencing an unprecedented number of COVID-19 cases. Aside from personal vaccination, the wearing of a facial covering is the next best step to protect the population from being exposed to, or unwittingly exposing others to, COVID-19.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) guidance on facial coverings can be found on their respective websites.

The Hingham Board of Health recommends the use of an N-95, KN-95 or a (non-woven, multi-ply) surgical mask. Woven cloth masks, gators and bandanas provide significantly less protection against this airborne respiratory virus. Any facial covering should be fitted closely to one’s skin to prevent unwanted gaps and leaks.

Upcoming Testing Site and Clinic

The Town of Hingham also reminds residents of resources available to them to both test for COVID-19 and receive the vaccine.

The Town will launch a temporary COVID-19 testing site on Wednesday, Jan. 12, which is sponsored by the Hingham, Cohasset, Hull and Scituate Health Departments. It will be located at 335 Lincoln St. (Route 3A) in Hingham.

Appointments will be required in order to receive a test. A link to register for a test will be released soon. No tests will be administered without an appointment.

This will be a drive-up site, and those receiving a test will not need to exit their vehicle.

The site will be open on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Residents and employees of the four sponsor towns will have priority appointment access, between the hours of 7 and 11 a.m., although they can still sign up for appointments outside of the priority timeframe if needed.

Booster Clinic

The Towns of Cohasset, Hingham, Hull and Scituate will also be sponsoring a regional COVID-19 vaccination booster clinic on Thursday, Jan. 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the South Shore Baptist Church, 578 Main St., Hingham.

The regional clinic will be made available to residents of the Towns of Cohasset, Hingham, Hull and Scituate only. It is being put on by the Health Departments of each of the four towns.

This clinic will be providing 300 doses of the Moderna booster to residents age 18 and older.

Those wishing to receive the vaccine at this clinic must Pre-Register. No walk-ins will be accepted at the clinic.

This will be a drive-up clinic. Those receiving a booster will not need to exit their vehicles in order to receive their shot.

Members of the Hingham Fire Department and Cohasset Health Department will be administering the doses.

Those looking for their first or second dose of the vaccine, those looking for a vaccine for younger children, or those specifically looking for the Johnson & Johnson or Pfizer COVID-19 boosters should visit the state’s Vaxfinder website.
