[ARCHIVED] Health Department Reminds Residents of Importance of COVID-19 Boosters

HINGHAM — The Hingham Health Department is encouraging all residents to keep up their protection against COVID-19.

Like other viruses, COVID-19 changes over time, leading to new variants. COVID-19 boosters provide protection against these variants, giving the body an added layer of defense. While vaccine protection decreases over time, boosters re-stimulate the immune system and increase vaccine effectiveness again.

While it is possible to still get COVID-19 after a booster, the risk of severe illness, hospitalization and death are greatly reduced.

Recommended booster doses vary by age and health status. Residents interested in receiving a booster or learning more are encouraged to check with their Primary Care Physician or visit for more information.

The Hingham Health Department is also always available to answer questions by phone at 781-741-1466.
