Notice to Weir River Water System Customers
LEVEL 2: Mandatory Total Ban – All non-essential outdoor usage Prohibited.
This includes, but is not limited to, irrigation using automatic sprinklers or soaker hoses; the washing of vehicles, exterior building surfaces, parking lots, driveways, and sidewalks; and, filling swimming pools.
Violations of this ban will result in fines as outlined in the WRWS rules and Regulations.
- 1st Violation – $50 Fine
- 2nd Violation – $100 Fine
- *Subsequent Violations*
- Additional fines, termination of service, plus the costs of termination and restoration.
Effective immediately the Weir River Water System will be instituting a Level 2 Mandatory Total Water Ban. This decision is based on an evaluation of current drought conditions and the need to conserve and maintain water supply and service throughout Hingham, Hull, and North Cohasset. The WRWS needs to continue supplying clean potable water and fire protection to our customers. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has declared the Southeast Region in Level 3 – Critical Drought Status.

Drought Restrictions: During any state-declared or state-confirmed drought, situation of operational limitation of the water supply system, or potential for exceeding the allowable water withdrawal volume under the Water Management Act, the Weir River Water System may restrict water usage.
